Minecraft 1.19 launches today, loading up the Wild Update's new biomes, mobs, and technical changes. This is the final step for (almost all) the new features that were initially presented to players at Minecraft Live 2020. It also marks the end of three major updates. As ever there aren't any secrets hiding away on launch day, Minecraft game director Agnes Larsson and Minecraft developer Ulraf Vaknin can assure me. Mojang is committed to player feedback or else why bother with snapshot builds, betas or release candidates? The developers also spoke about the changes 1.19 received after players got involved. The Wardens who are a danger to the team might have changed the most throughout the course of development. "That was a space where we were looking for feedback from our technical players and our challenge players," Vaknin explains. In their March snapshot, the Wardens were already very scary when I first attempted to play with them. They made an intense, loud heartbeat when they were agitated and screamed in my face. Now, they're equipped with an sonic attack, as well as a ranged ability emanating from their chests to combat players who have found a way to get out of their long arms's reach. Based on feedback from Minecraft players who enjoy the redstone tech in Minecraft The Skulk, the new Warden summoning blocks, was also modified. Minecraft update: What's new? Minecraft skins (opens new tab). New designs Minecraft mods. Beyond the standard Minecraft shaders. Spotlight Minecraft seeds. Fresh new worlds Minecraft texture pack. Pixelated Minecraft servers. All cheats. "It's somewhat technical," Vaknin says, going on to explain that the Skulk sensors stopped registering the first sound that was detected in the code, but now respond to the first that's closest to it. all about video games "We looked at some contraptions players tried to make and they didn’t work due to the code's peculiarity. We altered it to be more natural." Feedback is also continuing to have a major impact on ideas that Mojang moves away from. In the lead to the Wild Update, fireflies, originally marketed as a frog food for Minecraft Live 2020, were an interesting topic of debate. A recent video of Q&A was titled "What did the fireflies do in Minecraft 1.19?" In the video, the producer Anna Lundgren explained that players had pointed out how fireflies could be poisonous to Frogs. In our conversation, Larsson and Vaknin elaborate that it wasn't only players who raised the alarm. "I got reached out to by pet shop owners who said this is already an issue due to people not being educated on this and there's memes about fireflies eating frogs,"" Vaknin says. "So people have already made this mistake, and when Minecraft makes this mistake even more obvious, it can make it even worse." Larsson says, "We reach millions," "And that comes with the responsibility of a great deal. We realized that if we release an element like fireflies that are poisonous to frogs , and they eat them, it could result in people killing their real life frogs." all about video games We have millions of players and that should be a source of great responsibility. While my instinct is to defend developers who make changes to their mind about features in development, Larsson's rational explanation seems more sensible. Minecraft has been more than just a game for many years. It's now being marketed as an educational tool. New Minecraft features aren't only tied to Bedrock or Java editions or PC or Xbox interfaces. Mojang also must think about its role as both entertainment and educational for its huge number of young children. Without fireflies acting as frog food, Larsson states that the range of the new bugs was significantly smaller. Mojang has decided to eradicate them completely and send them back to the grand idea catalogue. This will allow Mojang to focus on other features in the pipeline. As for what they're personally looking forward to in the new 1.19 features, Vaknin is excited about seeing new Allay friends flying around houses and builds. Larsson is one of my players who is a true friend of mine, is excited about finding new mangrove swamps and building new buildings with the mangrove wood set, which is reddish and mud blocks. Minecraft 1.19 is available as a new version within your Minecraft Launcher. It includes a lengthy list of patch notes. Today also happens to be the day when all Minecraft players can access both Java and Bedrock versions of the game even if they had one or the other.
